In line of our philosophy of "Safety First" all cylinders are regularly inspected and serviced by manufacturers in accordance with Hydrostatic testing is conducted out of house by an international accredited inspection company. Okenos Scuba Centre medical room has a large array of bandaging, disinfecting and other medical products in stock. In serious cases the national hospital and Private Hospitals of Didim and Kusadasi are easily and quickly reached. Due to the remoteness of both Didim and Bodrum, safety is an absolute priority at all times. Many of our crew are Medic First Aid Instructors or are trained for basic first aid. All our crews maintain peak performance skills for emergencies situations. Since the nearest hyperbaric facility is 1.5 hrs away in Bodrum, we must conduct safe diving practice within the recreational diving limits. Therefore decompression dives are not permitted and a maximum depth of 30m/130ft is imposed.
To increase safety and bottom time while maintaining safe non-decompression dives the use of Nitrox becomes essential. DAN O2 Emergency kits are present on all of our skiffs as well as on the main base and boats. We conduct extensive dive briefings before every dive and assign dedicated Scuba Instructors on all dives, the buddy dive system is highly recommended and a 40-minute maximum dive time is enforced. We further provide all dive groups with our Safety Kit that includes an extra-large orange dive sausage, a powerful storm whistle and a special safety light.
